Dr. Emanuel graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989, and he pursued his graduate training at the University of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine.
Subsequent to his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Emanuel uprooted from the Philadelphia area, moved two hours north and continued his training at another Ivy League Institution, Columbia University. He underwent two years of general surgery training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. After the general surgery training he pursued four years of intensive urology training at The New York Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia and Cornell Universities.
During his training in New York, Dr. Emanuel was actively involved in both clinical as well as laboratory research in addition to his clinical practice. He has been published in the pediatric literature as well as the oncologic, reconstructive, and infertility literature. His laboratory research focused on molecular markers used in the detection of renal cell cancer in the blood stream. Dr. Emanuel has also presented papers and abstracts on various topics in urology at a multitude of urologic conferences across the country.
Dr. Eric Emanuel, MD completed his training in New York in July 1999, and he joined the Washington urologic community also in July 1999. He continues to pursue academic endeavors within the urologic community both locally and nationally while building a busy urologic practice in the metropolitan area. He brings with him from the New York arena a multitude of innovative ideas and a broad based expertise in urologic care and urologic surgery.
